Youth Outreach Volunteer Program

Rocky Mountain Flycasters

Your Trash Can Save RMF Cash!

RMF’s youth education programs need 15 fly rod tip sections for casting introduction. We are referring to the approximately 2' to 3' end section of a rod. Our intention is to attach a short braided line to the section's tip end…so the tip eyelet or other eyelets can be missing. Even extra old tip section blanks will also work for our purpose.

Contact Youth Information by email.

Youth Conservation and Fly Fishing Day Camp

Volunteers are needed for this July’s Youth River Conservation and Fly Fishing Day Camp. We will have fifteen youths ages 14-18, and need volunteer Mentors for general supervision and instruction. Interested volunteers should see detailed information on our Day Camp Volunteer page.

Water Festivals

There are currently three local Water Festivals held for elementary school students in Greeley, Loveland and Fort Collins where RMF provides experiential learning exercises. It’s great fun and gives students an introduction to river ecology. See the Water Festival page for more details and volunteer opportunities.

Trout in the Classroom

We need a Trout In the Classroom (TIC) Program Coordinator to interface with the teachers and oversee the program. Activity begins in early September and continues into early Spring when the fish are released. This is a fun job!

Contact Dennis Cook by email or 970-372-9229 for information or to discuss volunteer opportunities.

Scouting

There are currently no training sessions scheduled.

This merit badge is specifically targeted at teaching fly fishing. It is a hands-on, one-on-one, or one-on-several, instruction role.

Colorado Trout Unlimited Youth Camp

Rocky Mountain Flycasters Chapter continues its enthusiastic participation and financial support of the Colorado Trout Unlimited (CTU) River Conservation & Fly Fishing Youth Camp. Information and application materials are available on the Colorado Trout Unlimited web site.

Other
