Rocky Mountain Flycasters - Board Meetings

SEPTEMBER 10, 2008

President Ken Eis called the meeting to order with board members Jim Lilly, Guy Turenne, Phil Wright, and Lee Evans in attendance.

The treasurer’s report was sent by email, with the project account showing a balance of $852.67 and the general account balance of $6762.45.

Membership reported 850 members.

Phil will have a check for photography purposes at the general meeting. It is hoped that all parties are present for the presentation of the Behnke-RMF scholarship.

The river cleanup is still a go. Lee expected to spend about $120 for lunch for the volunteers and the board gave approval by acclimation. Ken is still looking for the vests and trash bags.

The general meeting is ready to happen. Arrangements have been verified with the senior center. Ken plans to arrive a bit before 6:30 to set up. Ken is going to personally call Mr. Blumhardt at the Coloradoan to ask how to get our meetings published more often.

Guy reported that the day with the Veterans went well. Milt, Guy, and Dave Piske went up and worked with about 12 veterans. The topic was general information about gear followed by a casting lesson.

Kudos were given to Guy for being in Trout magazine.

A discussion of what we have to do to re-certify our chapter was held. Guy will try to get details. We also have to do our year-end report and that requires a list of our volunteer hours for this last year. All board members are asked to bring or send their volunteer hours to the board meeting on October 8.

Misc. Business: Lee needs to get membership forms to Jax for the sustainable fair. The Colorado Conservation Summit was discussed and is expensive to attend. Bob Streeter will attend at a DOW member and we hoped he would report back to us. Old Town Trout group is sponsoring a Fish through Ft Collins day in September. Free fishing lessons, etc, are offered to help raise awareness of the Poudre through Ft. Collins and that the NISP project may threaten it.

Discussion was held regarding speakers for the upcoming meetings. We are still confirming a speaker for October. We also need raffle items, please bring what you can.

Meeting adjourned with appreciation to Ken for his hospitality.

Respectfully submitted,

Lee Evans
RMF Secretary
