Rocky Mountain Flycasters - Board Meetings

Rocky Mountain Flycasters Board Minutes

  1. Committee Reports

    1. Treas. Tom Culbertson, in lieu of ailing Pres. Jeffries, called meeting to order at 7:00 pm at Mulligans Pub.
    2. In attendance: Linda Jefferies, Cullen Emsing, Dennis Cook, Bob Green, Paul Wehr, Dave Piske, Tom Culbertson, Wil Huett, Jerry Pelis, and Bob Streeter. Donna Burell was an observer.
    3. Minutes for 12-11-13 not available due to lost notes. Several action items were recalled for inclusion in reconstructed minutes.
  2. Old Business

    1. Membership Committee Discussion: Lapsed memberships discussed. Possible actions: Get names, email addresses and tele numbers; send email newsletter with opt-out option; personal call from Bd member; Donors: when lapse, bring to Bd for possible personal contact; camp donors handled by Dennis. Corporate donor added to Newsletter Banner or sidebar. Suggested topic for Strategic Plan as part of fundraising strategy
New members: send welcome letter with chapter info, website, etc.
    2. Christmas Party Postmortem: $17 off-budget. Attendance down about 15, but some new members & potential new members attended. Food was good and ample amount. Questions raised: Should not the event be a “break-even”, non-subsidized event? Should admission price be raised? Should the food be ordered off-menu and individually paid for?
    3. Expo: Tiers noted in newsletter. Still need auction items.
    4. Volunteer award nominations due end of January. Newsletter should note categories and solicit membership input. Should consider “community” member awards (e.g., Brian in Loveland).
  3. New Business

    1. Display: Committee to meet to try to get display ready for Feb 8 Poudre Conference. Committee to contact Marylou Smith to reserve table.
    2. Fish Passage Jan 8 Workshop: Chapter sponsored 60 lunches at cost of $804 (1 lunch left). Additional 36 attendees on Webinar. Good presentations, well-received. Two issues: funding (CTU working on $$ sources), and associated challenge of getting Ditch companies committed to participate; and timing, as work needs to be completed by March or April for irrigation delivery.
    3. Big T Coalition: RFP out calling for proposals due in about 2 weeks for a consultant to develop a master plan for restoring the Big T from Olympus Dam down to the plains, in 2 phases, coldwater and warmwater segments.
    4. Strategic Planning: Need dates (2-28, 3-1, & 3-8 suggested) set; location (Tamasag? Other no-cost options?), facilitator (Fort Collins City employee?? Marylou Smith?? Other?), participants (BD, leadership team, invite interested members, partners?).
    5. Childrens’ Water Festivals: Greeley Apr 30; Loveland May 8; Fort Collins May 21. Stream Explorers Project: XCEL= $7,500; other grants pending

Adjourned 9:01 pm
